A Victorian Shopping

There are a lot of victorian advertisements. The description for this site says that they are a "collection of adverts gathered from magazines and books published in the United Kingdom in the Victorian era."

There are various subjects. Such as Medicine, Food, Gardening, Pest Control and more. I was particularly amused at the "Victorian Breakfast Dresses". and the "Cocoa for Invalids" ads. I never heard of these before. But eating a breakfast wearing PJ is good enough for me ;-)

The Nation's Innkeeper

This is just another site about the old hotel days. The Motel Americana site has a nostalgic look at the motels of the past. It focuses largely on Holiday Inn. The way it used to be. Holiday Inn is described as the "Wal-Mart of the hospitality world". I thought it was a good title, except that I wouldn't call it that way these days.

I have memories of this hotel/motel where we'd sometimes stay at during our trips a few decades ago for that reason. It was a great hotel to stay at. I loved it. Today even motel 6 can be quite expensive in some places. It's too bad those old days are long gone.

There are several links. I did not checked them, but I do have a few them in my blog already.

Blog - The Original Disneyland Hotel

Here is the statement that describes The Original Disneyland Hotel blog: "Join me for a trip through the World's Most Exciting Hotel. This blog covers the evolution of the Disneyland Hotel through the Wrather years, 1955 to 1989. Hope it brings back some wonderful memories."

Check out tons of memorabilia photos of old and vintage brochures, postcards, letters. etc. It's relatively extensive for a main page.

Oh My! What A Catsup!

If you are gonna be in Collinsville, Illinois on July 12-13, you might want to visit the 10th Annual Catsup Bottle Festival. Wish I could go!

Why Do Geese Fly In A "V"?

Here is another site from the government to make you richer in knowledge. Ask questions or view questions and their answers. The topics are: Agriculture, Astronomy, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Home Economics, Meteorology, Vehicular, Physics, Inventions and Zoology.

It's not a huge site, but there are plenty here to learn from. It's just a fun site. There are some really good questions though. Here is one which I've never heard of, "Can you tell the temperature by listening to the chirping of a cricket?" How about "Why does hair turn gray?" and "Why do fingers and toes wrinkle in the bathtub?" I love this one: "Is it possible to fry an egg on the sidewalk if it's hot enough?"

TV Dinner Club Museum

This is a the TV Dinner Club is a real museum located in Akron, Ohio. It is closed right now, because it is looking for a new location. But, you can see the museum via a virtual tour (I believe it's an Applet). Pretty cool.
