Worst Album Covers Ever!

Ah, what can I say? Some of these are truly amusing! Some aren't only bad but are gross. They are all bad, that it was hard for me to decide which pictures to post. Wink.

Worse Album Covers
http://www.coverbrowser.com/covers/worst-album-covers

This site has a bigger selection. I've seen several recommendations for this site. According to the site, they even had an exhibition in Ireland. However, I should warn you that there are some images that are not suitable for work. Some of them are either quite bad, outrageous, gross/offensive or just stupid/silly.

I learned a new fact though. Colonel Sanders (Kentucky Fried Chicken) had an album... (see album cover above).

There is a book called "Worst Album Covers Ever" by Nick DiFonzo. You can buy it at Barnes and Noble on line through the "sellers":

Museum of Retro Technology

See some very early transport and other inventions. Very neat inventions. These are no small feats. Some of these inventions go far back to the 19th century.

The Zuza Blog

Just a fun blog. There are nine categories: Animals, Art, Bizarre, Commercials, Food & Drinks, Funny, Life, Oops! and People. There are some hilarious pictures at the food section.

Chevrolet ad with Peg-Leg-Pedro

This 1938 Chevrolet tv advertising has got to be the longest ad I've ever seen! However, it was entertaining. It is basically a story treasure island where the kids find their "treasure". There is of course a bad pirate and his dumb parrot..

Pop a Soda

Great information about collecting pop soda cans. I wish I had a soda can collection, but I already have old beer can and coca cola collections.. that's too many cans! There are truly beautiful cans out there!

Earthquakes in the US and a bit of Natural Disasters

On Tuesday, I felt the 5.6 earthquake here in San Francisco. I'm used to earthquake, but can't say that the 5.6 was nothing. Anyhow, someone sent me this cool site called "are you prepared". Very easy to navigate.

http://www.72hours.org/

Another good resource (among others) for preparing yourself .

Many people don't realize this, but California isn't the only state that is proned to earthquakes. There are other faults around the country. If you look at the CERI site's, you'll see that there are active faults in the mid west and east coast

From www.sciencedaily.com. I snipped the link since it was too long. Great site with info about major natural disasters in the US.

Toons At War

David Lesjak, who wrote "Toons at War" which is now out of print, has a wonderful collection and posts about Disney's role in the WWII. This is really a great blog. you learn quite a bit..I knew Disney was involved, but I've never seen that much information about it. I have been trying to find a picture of the "Toons at War" books, unfortunately I have not been able to find any.

Little People in a Fisher-Price House.

I can't really imagine anyone who never heard of or seen a Fisher-Price product in this country. This Old Toy is practically an "info" center for anything that is a Fisher-Price toy since the 1930's! It also provides a repair service.

MEGO!

There is too much info about the museum's history for me to summarize here. The museum is about toys that were produced in the 1970's. As far as I can tell, the site focuses on trading card sets and action figures from the 1970's. They is a link to their store as well, blog and forum. Personally, I liked the gallery section.

When an Image Goes for a Walk...

Thought I'd mention this. Those of you who have been checking my blog occasionally, probably have noticed that the pictures occasionally disappear. I have no control over it. It just happens. It does seem to occur whenever I publish new posts. So, I just have to reload the images every time one of them goes on "vacation". Thanks for reading my blog!

Nostalgia Manila Style

As you probably have guessed already, this blog is about the Filipino nostalgia. It is mostly in English. This site has been downloading really slow on my computer, so I have not had the chance to check out this site throughly. My computer is having a hard time lately. Anyhow, it is looking good to me. It is pretty much a pop culture nostalgia, cartoons, music, tv and other stuff. There are also topics that I am not familiar with, but there is plenty of American tv nostalgia too.

If you refresh their page, you'll see that the pictures behind the header (blog's name), continue to rotate. Like the TV Cream site.

By the way, I don't know who the lady in the advertisement is.

Have You Got a Light?

A flickr blogger, "Ephemerate demeanor", has a cool set of matchbook covers photos.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/olivander/sets/795333/

Another flickr blogger, maraid, has international matchbook cover photos. But they are mainly from the 50's East Europe. Those are quite very different from the American matchbooks.. She has 525 matchbooks photos!!!

I recommend checking out her blog too:

"Bambi" is a horror movie!

Bambi is what?! Yep, turned out that Bambi is a horror movie! I must have been ignorant all these years...Time magazine's top Top 25 Horror Movies. The first horror movie is mentioned as well, and can also be seen in YouTube. Interesting though, is how different this list is from the "Top 50 Scary Movies of All Time" list that I posted on Oct 27.

The link is for Time Magazine, but the url is a bit too long, so I snipped it.

Where's the Fink?

I admit, I'm not a big fan of the Rat Fink . But I know a lot of people who are. Since Halloween is almost at the door's step, it seems a like good timing to post this. Ed Roth was a popular talented hot rod cartoonist, who drew hot rods with the Rat Fink character. A biography is included in this official site.

Happy B-Day Mr. Men!

Today, October 29th, is Mr. Men's 36th birthday. "Rambticus" the person who posted this video on the internet, says that this clip "features Adam Hargreaves, son of Roger Hargreaves who created the Mr. Men. Mr. Happy is features as part of the "adicolor collection". It's an Adidas clip. I am guessing that this clip runs (or ran) in England.

Rent a Retro

Retro Rental is an Australian company that rents retro holiday houses in Melbourne, with 1950's themes that include kitsch colors, decor and other things. They have atomic houses as well! I find this a very interesting idea for a holiday venture. I would love to see 1960's rental houses too.

FLICKR - Roadsidepictures' Photos

"Roadsidepictures" has tons of retro pictures that cover lots of stuff (advertising, soda pop, vintage vinyl, 1960's polaroid pictures of signs, and so on). It could take forever to view them. Really great stuff!

Anatomy of Cartoons

Michael Paulus, an artist, wanted to understand how cartoons would be if they had true physiological make up. So he selected some well known characters to experiment with, and these are what he came up with.
